Music
and Musicians at Christ Church
The
Director of Music at Christ Church is Ronald Cayless, Licentiate of
Trinity College London and Honorary Fellow and Treasurer of the Guild of
Church Musicians.
The choir
consists of some 24 singers drawn from the congregation, who
perform twice monthly at Sunday Morning Eucharist and also
Choral Evensong Services in May and November. In addition, we
offer varied and various programmes of music for Palm Sunday,
Advent & Christmas Carol Services and two concerts per year. The
current repertoire includes music from the Tudor period through
to the present day. We run two choirs - The Training Choir for
boys and girls aged 8 to 11 and The Full Choir for age 12 years
and upwards, but we are anxious to increase our numbers,
especially younger people.
Choir
practices take place in Church on Fridays as follows: Training
Choir (9 to 11 years of age) 6.30-7.00 p.m. followed by the Full
Choir 7.30-8.30 p.m.
On Sundays
when the choir is singing there is a practice at 9.00 a.m. prior
to the Eucharist at 10.00 a.m.
We always
welcome new singers and, if you or members of your family are
interested in joining either of our choirs, please contact
Ronald Cayless as follows-
